TODOS PONEN PROJECT

“As access to affordable, culturally relevant food shrinks for Black and Brown families, small businesses are often the first to respond. This effort channels that community support into real resources, raising funds and awareness to ensure families can access fresh, nutritious food.”

- Chef Diana Davila, Mi Tocaya Antojeria

Press Release

WHAT IS the TODOS PONEN project?

Todos Ponen was founded in 2020 by Chef Diana Dávila & Mi Tocaya gang as a community-powered rapid response to food insecurity and economic disruption impacting immigrant families across Chicago. What began as an emergency effort has grown into an ongoing initiative rooted in dignity, access, and long-term support, led in partnership with Chicago’s culinary community and trusted local organizations.

Looking ahead, Todos Ponen continues to expand into sustained programming that meets families where they are, when they need it most.

Ongoing Programming Includes

Rapid Response Meals
Mobilizing chefs and restaurant partners to prepare and distribute nutritious meals during moments of crisis, when families are afraid to shop, work, or move freely.

Direct Grocery Support
Providing grocery gift cards and food assistance to families experiencing sudden income loss, detention-related hardship, or housing instability. This support strengthens both households and neighborhood economies.

Resources for Immigrant and Mixed-Status Families
Connecting families to trusted legal, financial, and social service partners with culturally competent resources that reduce fear and isolation.

Fundraising for Community-Rooted Organizations
Raising funds for nonprofit and grassroots groups already doing this work on the ground, ensuring resources reach those with deep neighborhood ties.

Chef-Led Storytelling and Advocacy
Hosting conversations with Chicago chefs to shift the narrative around immigration, labor, and food access, centering humanity and collective responsibility.

Why It Matters

When a parent is detained or forced out of the workforce, the harm does not stop at the household. It ripples through neighborhoods impacting small businesses and the local economies families rely on to survive. Without timely intervention, food insecurity shifts from temporary crisis to chronic condition.

Todos Ponen exists to slow that economic freefall, provide immediate relief, and support pathways toward stability.
